IT Service Delivery For Your Business

Let’s talk IT Service Delivery for a bit.  Essentially this is a process by which services are delivered to the average user as it relates to IT support/service.

This can be a pretty complex topic, once you get into it.  And given that we like to keep things simple here at Advanced-PCs, let’s simplify this topic.  So for better understanding, let’s break this down into small bite chunks.

Here we go…

What is IT Service Delivery?

IT Service - IT Service Delivery

This is the process by which a service provider gives access to IT services to its end users or clients.  This is done using a systematic approach.  A system is built internally to carry out all services provided to end users from the very beginning until the desired resolution is reached.

Similar to how all successful businesses operate.  They have systems in place.

Service providers that adopt this form of delivery tend to have more happy end users, compared to service providers that don’t. The systems are usually a conglomerate of their internal SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and knowledge base.

When systems are created, results can be predicted.  Which is good for all parties involved.

Predictable results lead to more success. Everyone can use more success in their business, right?

Working with a service provider that can predict what your IT environment is doing on any given day, week or month will allow for your business to function more successfully.

Let’s take this a step further…

When your business is functioning more successfully, what normally happens?  Well, a few things.  Confidence goes up, workplace morale goes up, and trust in your service provider goes up.

And we can’t forget, the most important…revenue.  That’s right, revenue tends to increase with a business that is operating and functioning more successfully.

It’s a known fact that businesses that work with efficient service providers benefit immensely

The pros far outweigh the cons.  So it’s definitely worth considering outsourced IT service as a worthwhile investment for your business.

How Does it Work?

Each company has its “own way” in which to deliver its solutions.  However, underneath it all, there are universal ways that all service providers and IT companies follow in solving problems.  However, to truly streamline this process, service providers can adopt the concept of the ITIL library.

ITIL is a vast library of processes, fundamentals, and procedures as it relates to service delivery.  It’s not a specific set of procedures of what to do, but more of a guideline for companies to follow.

The basis by which a service is delivered is usually based on objectives.  Which essentially is the “why” behind the operation.  Having this defined ahead of time allows for structure and consistency.

Consistency generates useful data that can be used to address future problems.  This also gets added to their knowledge base data, which is then added to the system I mentioned earlier.

I can go on and on about ITIL and its library. However, you’ll be reading for a long time, and I don’t want that for you.

I essentially wanted to bring some life to the topic of IT service delivery, the benefits, and how the ITIL Library can play a part in it.

Conclusion

The importance of having a process to follow as it relates to IT service delivery is important for the predictability.  Once there is predictability in your IT environment, then it’s a sure way to help your business function more successfully.

Not to mention improvement to your bottom line.

The other cool thing about predictability is, it can be measured. Whatever can be measured, can also be tweaked and improved.
